Aims, Topics, Contacts
The Committee was founded in 1973 as part of the Swiss solidarity movement against colonialism, racism and exploitation. Its focus was the ‘other’ Africa, the awakening and potential of the continent.
The organisation addressed political, economic, social, and cultural developments in Africa and denounced grievances. It also focused on the existing inequality in North-South relations and the exercise of state power.
The Africa-Committee promoted solidarity by addressing debates on these issues, publicising problems, and addressing the concerns of African partners. Cultural exchange and raising awareness of the richness of African cultures were also important to the Africa Committee.
